arrival in cartagena

Hey everyone, we made it to cartagena a full day later than expected. we had virtually no wind when we were sailing and the motor went out the day we were supposed to be arriving. Needless to say it was rather slow going with no wind and no motor. however, we did make it and we all smelled rather pungent after not having showered for six days and being covered with sweat, salt water, and sun screen, not to mention the fact that we were sleeping within arms distance of a manually flushing toilet that none of us could seem to figure out, and were reminded of our ignorance repeatedly by the captain. Other than that we have enjoyed the trip and the islands where we stopped on the boat were phenomenal.

For those of you who are checking this we appreciate it and there will be more to come.

Chadwick

Great to hear from you all! So glad to learn that Hurrican Gustav didn't affect your trip. The spot tracking is awesome. Some of my classes are keeping up with the trip. Did you get to snorkel in the islands? Spear fish? Can't wait to see some pics! Hugs to all!

So were you guys sleeping on hammocks in the boat or did you have cots or slots or what? Its cool that you guys finally made it. I keep checking your location and kept being disappointed about you guys being in water all the time.

Side topic, did you guys find any left over "supplies" from your ships last voyage?

Don't you really appreciate how wonderful a shower really is? Still, I'm jealous of you all. What was the boat like? Glad the seasickness was minimal.

Love the blog...keep em coming. Vaya con dios, ya'll.

krystal, we aren´t really sure what you mean by supplies, can you expand on that one. as far as sleeping arrangements go, we had beds, but i probably could have reached out and touched jason, scherm, or the captain from the other room.

Great stuff...I'm sure all of you are making lots of memories. Sleeping next to a manual toilet may be at the top of the list right now :) The pic is beautiful and I am so jealous. Keep us updated and have fun.

Hey Son, It looks really beautiful there & I'm sure the boat trip was awesome. Your Mother and I have talked & prayed for you daily and thinking of you standing on the bow of the boat with the wind in your face and thinking of Heidi hanging over the bow. We're thankful to Our Lord that you guys have been safe and that your on dry ground. I hope you have a great adventure.
Your Dad, Gary
